xampp new install - toolkit setup issue

I am installing the latest environment for the php toolkit. I did this a year ago and had it working fine, but for some reason I am having a weird result at this time.

Prior to doing the toolkit setup as instructed, the apache server can be started (and shows the 'Running' highlight on the panel) and will do the nice little 'phpinfo' utility just fine. After I do the updates as listed here...

    http://wiki.developerforce.com/index.php/PHP_Toolkit_Setup

The apache server 'says' it is started in the window on the control panel, but the 'Running' highlight does NOTshow up and the phpinfo.php tool does not bring up anything..... I just get a page cannot be found error....... so it is obviously not started successfully.

is there a newer toolkit setup for the xampp install I am missing? here is what I have obtained from the apache friends site....

We've released the new version of XAMPP 1.7.2, including:
    • Apache 2.2.12 (IPv6 enabled) + OpenSSL 0.9.8k
    • MySQL 5.1.37 + PBXT engine
    • PHP 5.3.0
    • phpMyAdmin 3.2.0.1
    • Webalizer 2.21-02 + GeoIP lite
    • FileZilla FTP Server 0.9.32
    • msmtp 1.4.17

    Thanks for any advice....

Hmm sounds like maybe you should uninstall the entire xampp application and start from fresh that is all I can say man!!

    so far.... so good

I installed an older version of xampp (one for which the php version of the toolkit is marked as 'tested'), and it seems to be working better with the toolkit updates......

    @ Mike,

Got it running...... I think......... on the php mysql replication script I am getting a blank screen. Not sure where to go from here....as I do not have an error message to dig with..... Any recommendations?
