Let me put all my political feelings, I do not see myself as a liberal, even though I act like it sometimes. To me, it is the person and their actions that seem to push my button, sometimes further than it can be pressed. Forget about all hoopla over who is right or wrong about what is going on in Iraq. All I know is troops are dying everyday and for what. This is something that I cannot find the answer too, a daily struggle. Enough has been said on both sides, that is a fact!
Since President Bush announced to the American people that he was sending an additional 21,500 troops over to help the coalition forces (American Forces), I have not been getting a warm and fuzzy about the situation what so ever. It seems to me that this administration will do whatever it takes to protect our interests, no matter if they are right or wrong. Latest in the news is the ongoing nuclear threat that Iran is now developing and the Bush administrations opposition to this.
Please understand that I DO NOT want Iran to develop nuclear weapons, I see them as a threat and if diplomatic means cannot handle this, then a military option has to be open. My problem is that we seem to be alone in this; my problem is that our military cannot sustain a new conflict.
Maybe the solution is to increase pressure diplomatically on other topics or build more of a coalition against Iran. Not too many countries in the world agree with us, not to many countries even like us any longer.
It seems with these new allegations, from the US, that Iran is arming Iraqi insurgents with a new roadside bomb, EFP or explosively formed penetrators. EFP’s can punch through heavily armored vehicles is just more fuel to an already out of control fire. I feel that this build up is just an excuse for the Bush administration to gather more troops in the area for possible escalation with Iran.
Our military, and I am referring to the ground troops mainly, is stretched to thin. Everyone knows this and this scares me. What scares me about it is that someone to this date may have done a tour in both Afghanistan and Iraq, may find themselves in a new country before they can blink, Iran. President Bush knows this and seems to be turning a blind eye. I am scared for our military, for our hero’s, the men and women of the United States Military.
No matter what you believe in or what political party you belong to please understand one thing. If you think that the guerrilla war is bad now wait until we expand this to include Iran.
