    Salesforce Security Audit

    Hey Gang,

I'm new to Salesforce but my company has been using it for sometime now (I have joined the Admin side of things). Is there a way to do a security audit for user groups as well as individual users?

Basically I want to see who has access to what and what they can do.

I think I can do this by group, which would be okay since we have only around ten different departments in salesforce, but doing this for each individual is cumbersome to just run a report that displays everything I would like.

Anything I could do to generate a report (excel???) that would breakdown the individual users and display there permissions/access?

Specifically Administration Setup->Manage Users->Profiles is the information I need for all users in a report(excel) format.

    Thanks in advance,

You would be better off running that report in your org! I just tested and queried the user role object and I can get to the data over the API, but you would have to join 3 tables to get the information. I would allow Salesforce to do this for you.

I am sure there is a way, let me ask a friend and see what he has to say about how to setup a report like this

You can run a report like this

go to the reports tab > create new custom report > Select the type of data you wish to report on > Administrative Reports

that should do what you want!!

    Thanks Mike,

Sorry I think I miss stated the question, what I need is all the Profile Names settings:

Administration Setup -> Manage Users -> Profiles -> Profile Names

I did see the report for the Profiles as you have mentioned in the above post but I need to drill down for each user name to see the individual permission settings. I have looked everywhere in the reports and I just don't see it, I only see the high level reporting. I did post another question about using the API (w/ PHP) to retrieve the information and create my own report here:

    Profile Report w/ PHP API

Any help on this would be much appreciated,
