PHP connection with Professional edition
I looked around and did a couple searches on the existing topics, but didn't find a thread answering this question, so my apologies if this is something that is answered elsewhere.
Basically, we have a form that the results are trapped by a PHP page and then sent to Salesforce using their standard web to case form format. The drawback of this is that there's no possible way to receive information back from Salesforce about the case ID that was created based on this feedback. To resolve this, we would like to connect directly to the Salesforce server with our PHP to create a new case, get its ID back, and then create child cases referencing it.
Everything I've read indicates this is easily done in Enterprise edition, but under Professional edition the tools I have available are much more limited (For instance going under Setup -> Develop -> API just gives me an advertisement for the Force.com platform, and nothing usable) so I was wondering if it was possible to do at all with it.
Thank you for any information you can provide,
-Jonathan

From what I know the API is not enabled on the professional version, but I may be wrong. I believe that is why you are getting the force.com platform when you click on that link. Sorry that is all the information that I can provide

Thank you for verifying that, I wasn't sure if it was something I had missed setting up or if it was just disabled without proper notification. I'll look at other options for a solution to my problem.

Salesforce.com API access in Professional Edition
Hi,
You can ask your account manager to enable API access under Pro Edition. There is an additional cost for this (around USD180 per year, per user).
This is getting close to Enterprise licensing, but if you're not quite ready for the cost/additional features, then it's good middle ground.
We're about to crack into some development with the PHP API, and already have some JavaScript/AJAX API calls from inside our SF instance (buttons) which are working well.
