Howard Stern the Righteous Bastard

When I first moved to Dallas in July of 1996 Howard Stern was syndicated on the local Rock station. You could listen to him during the morning drive. I had never about him or what he stood for. In my mind he was an instant hit, the way that he conducted himself was humorous. This made my 30 mile drive to work much easier and more relaxing. Listening to him became second nature until the local radio station in Dallas was sold and Stern was off the air.

A few years later he was back on the air when he had a deal with CBS Radio which owned local radio station 105.3. I tuned in as soon as he was back. I loved listening to his show; it was extremely funny, not really Stern himself, but what the others did on the show with their hilarious bits.

In early 2006 Stern's contract with CBS expired and he signed a $ 500 million, 5 year contract with Sirius Satellite radio. Gary Dell'Abate, Stern's longtime producer, has been a dedicated employee and has been kissing Stern's ass for over 20 years. Everyone knows that Stern, especially himself, is the king of all media. The problem with Stern is that he is probably the most righteous, conceded person that I have ever heard.

As his popularity increased Stern became more self-centered and it started to show in Sirius. He started, and continues to; degrade Gary Dell'Abate on a daily basis. The other two main characters on his show, Robin Quivers and Artie Lange, are not belittled what so ever and stand firm against Stern's abusive attitude, but Gary does not. He basically bows to Stern in every way imaginable and takes daily abuse. It makes me sick that he does this and really does not even notice it or he does and just does it for the sake of the show.

Dell'Abate sometimes shows signs of standing firm, cussing out Stern when he is backed into a wall. Stern blames all the mishaps which happen on the show on Dell'Abate. I understand that Dell'Abate is the show's producer, but the way that Stern yells and treats him, especially on air, would piss me off to no end. Dell'Abate puts up with it almost on a daily basis and I would have already quit, no matter how good the money is!

Howard Stern needs to remember that not everything evolves around him, he is not some sort of god, he is not a real king. Stern, you need to grow up man and not be such a righteous bastard all the time.
