  1. Content, it's what's for dinner

by on 02-17-2010 at 10:22 AM
Just got back from a week in Dallas and let me tell you, a foot of snow when you're unprepared for it sucks. I know it's only a foot and the East Coasters on this site are probably laughing at me but I'm a California guy... I get weird when I don't see the sun for 4 days let alone have to wake up to 26 degree weather. Good and productive week nonetheless and I gotter' done (hey when in Rome right?)

While in the Lone Star State, I got an e-mail from someone at my company asking me to ...

  2. Mike's the brain, I'm the ugly

by on 02-02-2010 at 02:44 PM
Mike and I have known each other on a professional level for a few years now and I've had the good fortune of calling him a friend as of late. He's asked me to come to his website to think and write about the Salesforce System Admin role and see what questions of the world I could possibly help answer. I was hesitant, the stuff that I've seen on these forums is way over my head 90% of the time but I figure I'd take a shot to see what was out there.

That is their god given right to voice their opinions. I have found, no matter what the product, that you will find people that like certain items and ones that do not. This is just a fact of life, I do not think that I have ever found something ...
  4. APEX Trigger tutorial - update custom object

by on 02-02-2010 at 09:03 AM (Simonds - Discussion on Almost Anything)
I stated earlier that I am fairly new to APEX, triggers and classes. I have finally realized that if you want to be successful using Salesforce and their cloud platform that you have to use APEX. I started with the force.com cookbook, which I picked up at Dream Force 2008 and the new APEX cheat sheets that were available in the developers lounge in the Moscone Center.

We needed a simple trigger that would update one custom object in when another one was updated by a user. Now in the ...
  5. Salesforce.com: APEX – Moving Full Steam Ahead.

by on 01-15-2010 at 11:12 AM (Simonds - Discussion on Almost Anything)
Back in the summer of 2008 I was on vacation in Colorado Springs visiting my natural mother. I received a call from my senior manager. He told me that I was needed in California for a meeting with our senior executives and about 5 senior vice presidents from Salesforce.com. This meeting was more of a dog and pony show. Salesforce was trying to sell us more packages and how we, as a company, could benefit from moving more of our legacy systems into the Salesforce Cloud / Platform. At first I did ...
