Simonds - Discussion on Almost Anything

This past month has been one of the most amazing, let me explain. The San Francisco Giants won the World Series. They won this for the first time since 1954 and brought a championship to the city by the bay for the first time in history, ending one of the longest baseball droughts in recent memory.

When Brian Wilson threw the final pitch and struck out Nelson Cruz, I was in Las Vegas at a conference. I was eating dinner with a new friend from work and had to excuse myself to watch the bottom of the 9th from the bar. I just sat there in disbelief, I could not believe it. A tear came to my eye and still does to this very day

Sure it is November 16, 2010, but I am still in awe of their victory, it is surreal in every aspect. Since the final out on Game 5, 3-1 victory over the Texas Rangers, I have been watching highlights, which by the way never get boring. I can and will watch them for as long as I live. The feeling, which is shared by many longtime SF Giant fans, is just out of this world and extremely hard to express in words. I have followed this team since I was only 8 years old and used to go to the games alone when I was a kid at Candlestick Park when Willie McCovey and Darrell Evans were playing in the infield along with Johnnie LeMaster and Bill Madlock. Back then I wished and prayed that they would win a series championship, but the Dodgers always spoiled that. God I hate the dodgers!!

For the past 34 years that I have followed this team, there have been many let downs. The 1989 and 2002 World Series and later playoff runs. This team though was special; they came together, gelling at the right moment. Their pitching staff was untouchable during the playoffs and I cannot find anyone that would disagree with me at all. All that is now in the past and are roads that I will never travel again, I am only going forward and will

I would like to thank the 2010 San Francisco Giants, their players, coaches, and management. It was an amazing season and thank you so much for playing the way you did. You have brought happiness to me and all Giants fans everywhere.
